London is 6 hours ahead of Chicago. However, the difference briefly reduces to 5 hours in March and between late October and early November because the US and UK change their clocks on different dates.
Chicago follows Central Time (CT), while London uses Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) in winter and British Summer Time (BST) during summer.

Most evening flights from Chicago reach London the next morning. Always check the arrival date and local time on your flight journey, especially when planning airport transfers, hotel check-ins, or connecting journeys.
Flights between Chicago and London do not always take the same amount of time, even when traveling nonstop.
One reason is the jet stream, a band of strong winds high above the North Atlantic. These winds can help aircraft flying east toward London reach their destination faster. On the return journey to Chicago, flying against these winds may increase travel time.
Weather conditions, air traffic, and changes to the planned flight route can also affect how long the journey takes.
The flight duration shown on your ticket usually includes the time spent moving on the ground before takeoff and after landing. This means your actual time in the air may be slightly shorter than the scheduled journey.
When planning your arrival in London, use the flight times as a general guide and check your airline's scheduled arrival time for your chosen flight.
