Alaska Airlines has officially unveiled its first-ever International Business Class Suites, set to debut on its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft in late spring 2026. The new product will launch on the airline's growing list of international routes from Seattle, including flights to Rome, London, and Reykjavik, marking the biggest shift in the airline's history as it moves from a domestic West Coast carrier into the premium international travel market.
The new cabin, which Alaska is calling “The Global Stage,” features 34 suite-style seats arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, ensuring every passenger has direct aisle access. Each suite comes fitted with a full lie-flat bed, a sliding privacy door, and an 18-inch personal entertainment screen. Premium bedding from Filson, a well-known Pacific Northwest brand, is included alongside curated amenity kits and reusable water bottles. Dining has also been given serious attention, with multi-course menus designed specifically around each route Italian-inspired meals on Rome flights and Korean-inspired dishes on Seoul services. A build-your-own sundae cart, a feature already popular on carriers like United Airlines, will also be part of the onboard experience.
What makes this launch particularly notable is where the aircraft are coming from. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners being used for these routes were originally part of the Hawaiian Airlines fleet, which Alaska acquired through a merger completed in fall 2024. Alaska has since rebuilt and redesigned those aircraft to house the new Business Class product, which is also why the suites are able to reach passengers as early as late spring 2026 without requiring an entirely new fleet order.
Route Growth
Alaska began its international push in autumn 2025 with new routes from Seattle to Seoul and Tokyo. This spring, Rome, London, and Reykjavik are being added to the network, all featuring the new suites. The airline has also confirmed plans to launch nearly a dozen international routes before the end of 2026, with Seattle serving as the sole departure hub. The strategy is clear Alaska wants to turn Seattle into a genuine gateway for international travel on the US West Coast, competing directly with the established hubs of Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Alaska Airlines entering the premium international suite market is a significant moment not just for the airline itself, but for US aviation as a whole. West Coast travelers have long had limited options when it comes to accessing a true suite experience on a US carrier without having to connect through busier East Coast hubs. With this launch, Alaska is directly addressing that gap and raising the bar for what travelers can expect when flying internationally from Seattle. As the airline continues to grow its international network through 2026 and beyond, this Business Class product is set to become the centerpiece of its long-haul identity
Please Note: If you are considering a premium long-haul trip to Europe or beyond in 2026, Alaska Airlines’ new Business Class Suites are worth serious attention especially at launch, when pricing on new premium products tends to be most competitive. Routes to Rome, London, and Reykjavik are already open for booking, and with nearly a dozen more international routes expected before year-end, options will continue to grow.
