The proposed transfer comes as Spirit Airlines continues selling airport assets through its bankruptcy proceedings. Court documents show that Spirit has been working to reduce ongoing operating costs while maximizing the value of its remaining lease agreements for creditors. The Atlanta lease, originally signed in 2017 and extended through June 2031, includes the two gates as well as ticketing and operational support space. If the court approves the transaction, Delta will assume Spirit's rights and responsibilities under the lease for the remainder of its term. A bankruptcy court hearing is scheduled before the agreement can become official.
