Slot canyons are narrow gorges carved by water. They're spectacular but dangerous during rain. Flash floods can occur miles away from rain—water channels through canyons quickly. Never enter slot canyons when rain threatens. Check weather forecasts. Some popular canyons (Antelope Canyon) only allow guided tours partly for safety reasons.
