Central America

Central America (4-6 hours): Slightly longer flights than Mexico. More authentic experiences than resort heavy Mexico. Lower costs than Europe. Spanish helpful but not essential. Requires more planning than all inclusive resorts.

South America

South America (8-12 hours): Longer flights but delivers unique experiences. Patagonia, Amazon, Machu Picchu, Galapagos can't be replicated elsewhere. Spanish essential outside tourist areas. Wide price range from budget-friendly to expensive.

Europe

Passport validity

Passport validity: Most countries require your passport valid 6 months beyond your return date. Check and renew early - processing takes 8-12 weeks for routine service.

Health considerations

Check vaccination requirements for your destination. Yellow fever required for some African and South American countries. Malaria prophylaxis recommended for parts of Africa and Asia. Consult travel health clinics 6-8 weeks before departure.

Money

Money: Notify your bank before travelling to avoid fraud blocks on your cards. Carry one credit card and one debit card separately. Use ATMs at banks, not airports or tourist areas. Avoid currency exchange kiosks.

Travel insurance

Jamaica

Jamaica all-inclusive resorts discount summer rates. Montego Bay, Negril, and Ocho Rios deliver beaches and culture at lower costs than winter high season.

Punta Cana

Punta Cana offers summer beach value. Dominican Republic all-inclusive properties cost significantly less in summer. Hurricane risk exists but actual impacts remain relatively rare for this region.

Costa Rica
