The new service will make Delta the only U.S.-based airline offering nonstop flights between Los Angeles and Manila. Philippine Airlines will continue serving the route, meaning travelers will have another nonstop carrier to choose from when flying between the two cities. Los Angeles is home to one of the largest Filipino-American communities in the United States, making the route important not only for tourism but also for passengers visiting friends and relatives, business travelers and students. In addition, customers from across the United States will be able to connect through Delta's extensive domestic network at LAX before continuing directly to Manila, reducing travel time compared with itineraries that require connections through other Asian hubs.
