American is expanding its long-haul fleet with additional Boeing 787-9 aircraft, including its premium-focused 787-9P configuration.
The aircraft are part of the airline's wider strategy to increase premium seating and improve its international long-haul product. American has been adding more premium capacity as it evaluates opportunities in international markets.
The 787-9 is well suited to long-distance routes such as Los Angeles–Singapore. However, American has not confirmed that a 787-9P would operate LAX–SIN.
If the route is eventually announced, the aircraft and cabin configuration would still need to be confirmed by the airline.
