Delta Expands U.S. Routes for Winter 2026 With New Monterey and Hawaii Flights

Delta Air Lines is expanding its U.S. network with the return of flights from Monterey, California, new service between Minneapolis and Maui, additional flights from Los Angeles to Florida, and a new nonstop connection between Austin and San José, California. Some of the changes are scheduled to begin later this year, giving travelers more nonstop options across several major domestic markets.

Delta Returns to Monterey After Nearly 19 Years

One of the most notable changes is Delta’s return to Monterey Regional Airport (MRY). The airline last operated regular service from Monterey in January 2008 and is scheduled to return on December 19, 2026.

Delta will offer two nonstop routes from Monterey:

Monterey–Los Angeles (MRY–LAX): twice daily
Monterey–Salt Lake City (MRY–SLC): daily

Both routes are scheduled to be operated by SkyWest Airlines as Delta Connection using Embraer 175 regional aircraft.

The new service gives travelers in California’s Central Coast another option for reaching Los Angeles and Salt Lake City without first traveling to a larger airport such as San Francisco or San José.

The Monterey–Los Angeles route will also face competition from United, which already operates service between the two airports.

Delta is also expanding its Hawaii network for the 2026–27 winter season with new nonstop service between Minneapolis–St. Paul (MSP) and Maui (OGG).

The service is scheduled to begin December 19, 2026, using an Airbus A330-300. Delta says the route will operate daily during peak holiday and spring-break periods, with five weekly flights during the core winter season.

For travelers in Minnesota and other parts of the Upper Midwest, the route provides a nonstop option to Maui rather than requiring a connection on the way to Hawaii.

Delta is also increasing service on several existing Hawaii routes. Detroit–Honolulu is scheduled to increase to daily service beginning November 9, while Salt Lake City–Kona will also receive daily Boeing 767-300 service from November 9. Delta also plans to use the Boeing 767-300 on its Los Angeles–Kona route during the winter season.

Boston–Honolulu Service Has Been Cut Short

Not every Hawaii change announced earlier this year is still operating as originally planned.

Delta initially announced that Boston–Honolulu would return on December 19, 2026, with daily flights during the holiday period before moving to four weekly flights for the rest of winter.

The airline has since shortened the planned service. Delta confirmed that Boston–Honolulu will end effective January 4, 2027, meaning the route will operate only around the holiday period rather than continuing through the winter as originally announced. Independent reports citing Delta say the scheduled nonstop service will operate daily from December 19 through January 3.

Delta said it routinely evaluates and adjusts its network according to customer demand and that affected customers would be contacted with alternative travel options.

This change is important for travelers because the Boston–Honolulu route was originally expected to provide a longer seasonal nonstop option between New England and Hawaii.

More Flights From Los Angeles to Florida

Delta is also expanding its winter schedule from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The airline is scheduled to launch new nonstop service between Los Angeles and Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) on November 20, 2026. Delta will also increase its Los Angeles–Tampa service to three daily flights year-round beginning November 9 and raise Los Angeles–Orlando service to five daily flights beginning November 20.

The new Palm Beach service and the additional Florida flights are scheduled to use Airbus A321neo aircraft.

Delta says the changes will give Los Angeles travelers more options for reaching major Florida destinations during the winter season.

The airline also continues to expand its wider LAX network, including previously announced service to Hong Kong and Chicago.

New Austin–San José Nonstop Flight

Another new domestic connection is coming between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and San José Mineta International Airport (SJC).

Delta is scheduled to begin daily nonstop service on October 6, 2026, using an Airbus A319. The route is already available for booking, according to San José Mineta International Airport.

The new connection gives travelers between Central Texas and the San José/Silicon Valley area a daily nonstop option instead of requiring a connecting flight.

Delta’s latest network adjustments affect several different parts of the United States, from California’s Central Coast to the Upper Midwest, Hawaii, Florida and Texas.
