La Compagnie to Launch All-Business-Class Flights Between New York and Düsseldorf in 2027

MundoTrip | Travel News | 9 September 2026

Travelers flying between the New York area and Germany will have a new nonstop option next year, and it will offer something that is unusual in transatlantic travel: an aircraft with no economy cabin at all.

French airline La Compagnie is preparing to launch nonstop flights between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) beginning April 21, 2027. The new service will operate five times a week using an Airbus A321neo LR configured entirely with business-class seats.

The route will give travelers a direct connection between the New York metropolitan area and Düsseldorf while also marking La Compagnie's first destination in Germany. Düsseldorf Airport and La Compagnie have confirmed the new service.

For U.S. travelers, the new route could provide an alternative to connecting through major European hubs, particularly for passengers traveling to Düsseldorf and the wider North Rhine-Westphalia region.

New York and Düsseldorf Will Get a New Nonstop Connection

La Compagnie's new service will operate between Newark and Düsseldorf, meaning travelers should not confuse the route with a new connection from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Flights are scheduled to operate five days per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The planned Düsseldorf departure is at 12 p.m., arriving in Newark at 2:35 p.m. local time. The return service will depart Newark at 9 p.m. and reach Düsseldorf at 10:20 a.m. the following day.

The route is scheduled to begin on April 21, 2027, giving travelers an additional nonstop option for spring and summer trips between the United States and western Germany.

Every Seat Will Be Business Class

The biggest difference between La Compagnie's new service and conventional transatlantic flights will be the aircraft's cabin.

The airline will use an Airbus A321neo LR with 76 business-class seats, arranged in a 2-2 configuration. There will be no economy or premium-economy cabin on the aircraft.

Every seat will convert into a fully flat bed, giving passengers the opportunity to sleep comfortably during the overnight journey from Newark to Düsseldorf.

The aircraft is expected to be delivered to La Compagnie ahead of the route's launch, with Düsseldorf Airport stating that the new A321neo LR is scheduled for delivery in March 2027.

For travelers who normally prioritize comfort on long-haul flights, the all-business-class setup could make the new service particularly attractive.

What Travelers Can Expect Onboard

Düsseldorf Becomes La Compagnie's First German Destination

The new route represents an important expansion for La Compagnie because Düsseldorf will become the airline's first destination in Germany.

La Compagnie has built its business around an all-business-class transatlantic model, operating flights designed specifically for passengers seeking a premium experience between the United States and Europe.

The Düsseldorf route will extend that model into the German market while giving the airport another direct connection with the New York area.

Düsseldorf Airport has described the new service as a return of the New York connection and highlighted the importance of stronger links between Düsseldorf, the wider North Rhine-Westphalia region and the United States.

Why the New Route Matters to U.S. Travelers

The new flight could be particularly useful for travelers from the New York metropolitan area visiting Düsseldorf or other destinations in western Germany.

Düsseldorf sits within the Rhine-Ruhr region, one of Europe's major economic areas, making the route relevant not only to leisure travelers but also to business passengers traveling between the United States and Germany.

North Rhine-Westphalia has strong economic connections with the U.S., with more than 1,700 American companies operating in the state, according to Düsseldorf's business development organization.

A nonstop flight can also make travel more convenient for passengers whose final destination is Düsseldorf or nearby cities. Instead of connecting through a major European hub such as Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Paris or London, travelers will have the option of flying directly into Düsseldorf.

What This Means for U.S. Travelers

La Compagnie's new Newark–Düsseldorf service will give travelers another way to cross the Atlantic without a connection while introducing a distinctly premium option to the New York–Germany market.

The route is particularly notable because all 76 seats will be business class, making it very different from the typical transatlantic flight where travelers choose between multiple cabin classes.

For New York-area travelers heading to Düsseldorf and the surrounding Rhine-Ruhr region, the nonstop connection could make future trips more convenient. Business travelers may also benefit from the direct link between two economically important regions.

At the same time, travelers looking for the lowest-cost way to reach Germany will still have to compare La Compagnie's business-class service with economy and premium-economy options offered by other airlines.

With service scheduled to begin April 21, 2027, the new route will give U.S. travelers another choice for reaching Germany while bringing La Compagnie's all-business-class concept to its first German destination.
